Johnson & Perrott has confirmed its support of the academy programme at Neptune Basketball Club, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to youth development and community sport in Cork City.
To mark the partnership, members of the Johnson & Perrott team visited Neptune Basketball Stadium to experience the academy environment first-hand. The visit provided an opportunity to meet the coaches, volunteers, young athletes and parents who collectively drive the club’s continued progress and strong community spirit.
Established in 1947, Neptune Basketball Club holds a distinguished place in Irish basketball. While recognised for its competitive success over the decades, the club places equal importance on nurturing emerging talent. The academy structure offers young players a clear development pathway, fostering technical ability alongside essential life skills such as discipline, teamwork and resilience.
Managing Director of Motor Dealerships, Paul O’Neill, attended the visit and emphasised the value of grassroots engagement:
“When you see the energy and dedication within the academy — from the volunteers giving their time to the young players developing their confidence — it highlights how important clubs like Neptune are to the fabric of Cork. We’re pleased to support a programme that invests so positively in the next generation.”
This sponsorship forms part of Johnson & Perrott’s wider approach to community involvement across Cork, where the group continues to back initiatives that promote participation, wellbeing and long-term personal development through sport.
With increasing numbers across multiple age grades, Neptune’s academy remains central to the club’s long-term vision — ensuring that basketball in Cork continues to thrive both competitively and at grassroots level.
